Today, let me share with you seven tips for overcoming procrastination.
Get Clear on Your Priorities:
Start daily by prioritizing your day.
- Instead of doing a "Things to Do List," Start thinking about a "Today List." Today can assist you in setting boundaries for the day and no longer allowing yourself to be pulled in different directions.
- Allow "No" to be a complete sentence. Learning that "NO" is a complete sentence helps you stop allowing others to keep you in a state of procrastination and set more explicit boundaries. This results in you saying no when needed to help your better prioritize your day and meet deadlines.
Reduce distractions: Determine what distracts you and do all you can to eliminate them. An example is spending too much time on social media platforms or watching reels.
- These become distractions that take you away from the tasks that must be completed.
- Practice Positive Self-Talk: Rewarding self-talk is okay when feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or discouraged. When you are sometimes overcritical of yourself, you are prone to negative self-talk. Turn that around to positive self-talk that helps you to counteract those thoughts and build your self-esteem.
Build Your Confidence: Learning to build your confidence is an effective way to overcome procrastination.
- When you build your confidence in your abilities, you will be readier to act and tackle tasks your might have been putting off.
- Connect with an Accountability Partner: Besides holding yourself accountable. When you have an Accountability partner, they can provide motivation, offer additional support; help you to stay focused; create a sense of community, and help your set clear boundaries.
Share Your Success:
- Acknowledge your hard work and progress, which help you feel more positive and energized.
- Take some time to reflect upon your hard work, accomplishments, and finishing a significant task.
- Use your success to motivate yourself to set new goals and challenges.
